Three Gorges Dam ship locks has hit 1.76 billion tonnes over the past 19 years

Over the past 19 years since the Three Gorges Dam ship locks were put into use, they have been operated 183,000 times, witnessing the passage of 954,000 vessels and 12.24 million passengers. The cargo throughput of the ship locks has hit 1.76 billion tonnes.
Located in central China's Hubei Province, the Three Gorges Dam ship locks are the world's largest inland ship locks with the most number of tiers, the highest altitude difference, and the most complex operating conditions. It is an important channel serving the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
The construction of the Three Gorges Project has completely improved the navigation environment in the mid and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, enabling 24/7 navigation in the waterway.
