Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station
The Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station, located on the lower sections of the Jinsha River, is China’s fifth-largest hydropower station and a major electricity source for eastern China.
In addition to power generation, it provides comprehensive benefits, including silt retention, flood control, improved downstream navigation, enhanced irrigation, and regulation of the Xiluodu Hydropower Station.
The first generating unit was commissioned in 2012, after construction began in 2006. The trial of the Xiangjiaba ship lift in 2018 marked a significant milestone, ushering the shipping industry along the Jinsha River into a new era.
