The Freight Volume of the Three Gorges Ship Lock Reached a New High in 2017

Throughout 2017, the Three Gorges Ship Lock has maintained a safe and efficient operation with a record high of 43,000 ships, 396,000 passengers and 130 million tons of cargo passing through the Lock. With the impoundment of the Three Gorges Reservoir, the shipping conditions of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area have been significantly improved. According to statistics, by the end of 2017, the total freight volume of the Three Gorges Ship Lock has exceeded 1.1 billion tons, which achieves remarkable social benefits and significantly promotes the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Zone.
