Date: 2019-03-27
China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) started the construction of a RMB 879 million urban sewage treatment plant and infrastructure project in Xingshan County on March 14, the first private-public-partnership (PPP) project the company has undertaken as part of its Yangtze River protection initiative in Yichang, home to its Three Gorges Dam.
The commencement was held as part of a collective ground-breaking ceremony for five major projects in Xingshan County, which is under the jurisdiction of Yichang. The five projects, which have a combined investment of RMB 3 billion, are all slated to begin construction in the first quarter.
The urban sewage treatment and infrastructure PPP project will be built by China Three Gorges Base Development Company, an affiliated firm of CTG.
The project, which includes an urban sewage treatment facility and transportation infrastructure, will allow the local urban sewage to be fully collected and treated to ensure the quality of its treated water complies with national regulations, according to Zhang Yuqing, Director of Development and Safety at China Three Gorges Base Development. The project, he said, will boost the aquatic ecological environment of Xingshan and its ecological functions to ensure the water quality of the rivers in Xingshan before they flow into Yangtze River.
