China's third-largest dam commences equipment installation

Wudongde hydropower station, China's third-largest dam in terms of capacity, has started installing the first batch of four turbine generator units on March 1.
The work, which involves the installation of turbine and generator units, is progressing well. After the generator installation, the project is expected to undergo full equipment installation, dry and water commissioning.
The concrete shells for the remaining eight turbine generator units are being constructed, which is expected to be completed in June this year and followed by equipment installation.
Located at the mainstream of the Jinsha River between Donghui county of Sichuan province and Luquan county of Yunnan province, Wudongde hydropower station, also the world's seventh-largest dam including those under construction, has a total installed capacity of 10,200 megawatts with 12 units of 850-MW turbine generator.
Commission of the first batch of the generators is expected in July, according to its plan.
