Research fellows from Cornell University visit the Three Gorges Dam

A delegation of research fellows from China & Asia Pacific Studies Program (CAPS) at Cornell University visited the Three Gorges Dam on March 19.
The visiting delegation held talks with youth employees from China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) on various topics such as those related to sustainable development during China's economic transition.
The two sides, in particular, held extensive exchanges on Three Gorges Dam-related issues such as flood control, shipping, power generation and water resource utilization during the construction and operation of the dam.
Both sides also expressed the wish to strengthen exchanges in the future to better understand each other’s country to make contribution to the development of bilateral relationship between China and the United States.
“Sino-US relationship is one of the world’s most important bilateral ties in the 21stcentury. China & Asia Pacific Studies Program is designed to train future experts who are well versed in Chinese language, politics, economy, history and foreign relations, making them a major force in advancing the bilateral relationship between the two countries,” said Xu Xin, CAPS Program Manager.
The delegation also paid a visit to the five-step ship lock, ship lift, Wang’s Ancestral Hall, Yangtze River Rare Plant Research Institute and Chinese Sturgeon Research Institute located in the Three Gorges Dam area.
