CTG’s Xiangjiaba Dam starts 2019 annual impoundment

Xiangjiaba Dam, one of the largest hydropower stations under China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), started impoundment on September 5 at the order of Yangtze River Water Resources Committee, the seventh impoundment since the dam was put into operation.
The move is aimed to make reasonable use of the water resources at the end of flood period, optimize water resource allocation in the basin and alleviate the pressure on power supply during the dry period.
The starting impoundment level is 372m and is expected to reach the target impoundment level of 380 m in mid-September.
