Baihetan starts concrete pouring for steel lining of flood discharge outlets

The Baihetan Dam started first silo of concrete pouring for steel lining of flood discharge deep outlets on August 6 after one month of meticulous preparations.
The Baihetan Dam is a super-high concrete double-curvature arch dam with a maximum dam height of 289m and seven deep outlets for flood discharge. Located on the dam body, the deep outlets are permanent structure, which will operate in tandem with the crest outlets and spillway tunnels on the banks for flood discharge during the operation of the power station.
Under the spillway design flood level, the total discharge volume of the seven outlets will be 12,107m3, and the flow rate through each outlet will be 40m/second.
At #5 Outlet, where the concrete pouring for steel lining commenced, a total of 500 tons of steel lining, 300 tons of steel bars, 60 tons of anchor cable bushings and supporting structures will be installed, and 4,606m3 of concrete will be poured.
