CTG-EDP Cooperation Agreement Sealed

Lei Mingshan, chairman of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), signed the CTG-EDP Cooperation Agreement with António Mexia, CEO of Energias de Portugal (EDP), under the witness of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Portugal's Prime Minister António Costa in Lisbon on Dec. 5.
The signing was made during Xi’s state visit to Portugal. Xi said that the two countries enjoy a long history of friendly exchanges, adding that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 39 years ago, China and Portugal have always witnessed win-win cooperation with mutual understanding, respect and trust. The bilateral ties stood the test of changes in the international landscape and have been developing in a healthy and stable way.
Under the agreements, CTG and EDP will give play to their advantages and expand cooperation on culture, social and environmental development, innovation, R&D, offshore wind development and other areas to deepen bilateral relations of the two countries and offer new impetus to social and economic development in Portugal.
Since CTG took a stake in Energias de Portugal (EDP) in 2012 and became a major shareholder of the European company, both parties have carried out effective strategic cooperation across a broad range of areas. They have
also made significant progress in third-party markets, aiming to become a worldwide leader in renewable energy generation with combined efforts.
