China Three Gorges Group wins bid for 1b yuan Yangtze River protection project

Date: 2019-02-13

A consortium led by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) has won a bid to build an integrated wastewater treatment plant on January 25, the second Yangtze River protection project CTG has bagged.

The private-public-partnership (PPP) project, located in Wuwei county under the city of Wuhu, Anhui province, will operate on toll-operate-transfer (TOT) and build-operate-transfer (BOT) models with duration of 20 years.

Total investment in the project, which includes 13 sub-projects, is estimated at 11.6 billion yuan, including building new sewage treatment facilities and financing, investment in and construction of new drainage pipeline networks, as well as operation and maintenance of the existing sewage treatment plants and both the old and new drainage pipeline networks.

CTG has been actively involved in the ecological restoration and environmental protection projects in the Yangtze River Economic Belt as part of its efforts to support the master plan laid out by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

Building on its experience gained from its projects in Wuhu, which is among the first batch of cities selected in the national initiative, CTG picked up Wuwei, a typical county in the Yangtze River delta, as one of the second batch of pilot places in the Yangtze River protection project.

CTG is committed to exploring a viable integrated sewage treatment model in countryside by drawing on experiences from its urban wastewater treatment operations. Wuwei project marks another example of CTG putting into practice what it has achieved in the countryside wastewater treatment to help fundamentally improve urban water quality.
