Concrete placement of world's first million-kilowatt hydropower unit completed

The concrete placement was completed at the No.1 unit of the left bank of the Baihetan Hydropower Station on October 28 as the last truck of concrete was  poured into the site, paving the way for the world's largest underground powerhouse under construction to move from civil construction to generator unit installation.

The total concrete poured was 23,000 cubic meters, and the total weight of embedded metal structures reached 1,800 tons. Baihetan Engineering and Construction Department coped with a number of difficulties in the construction process, such as welding the 800MPa high-strength steel spiral case. Guided by its assessment of potential issues, Baihetan formed a mechanism to realize control and successful execution for the construction process.
