CTG-owned Baihetan Dam completes installation for all turbine stay rings

Baihetan Hydropower Station, owned and operated by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), completed installation for all 16 turbine stay rings located at the underground powerhouses of its left and rights banks on November 30.

As the core of the unit’s embedded parts and a key part of the flow passage components, together with the concrete structure, these turbine stay rings will support a total load of 5000 tons, including key components such as generators and turbines, and the axial thrust of the turbines.

There are eight stay rings on each bank of the Baihetan Hydropower Station. A single stay ring installed on the left bank weighs 467.1 tons and that on the right bank weighs 505 tons.

The stay ring for the first power unit on the left bank was hoisted in place on November 24, 2018, with the first unit on the right bank installed on December 21 of the same year.
