Date: 2019-12-30
Wudongde Hydropower Station, owned and built by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), announced that concrete pouring of the first section of its arch dam, or Dam Section #12, reached the top on December 20, paving the way for its ensuing construction work.
Designed as a double-curvature arch dam, the body structure of the Wudongde Hydropower Station consists of 15 dam sections, with a total concrete pouring volume of about 2.86 million m3.
The dam crest elevation of the project is 988m, with maximum dam height of 270m, arc length of centerline of dam crest of 325.67m and height to thickness ratio of only 0.19, making it the thinnest 300-meter arch dam in the world.
The project has entered the construction phase of surface holes at the dam body with a total of 2.51 million m3 concrete poured, completing 88 percent of the overall concrete pouring target. Monitoring data show that the working condition of the dam is in excellent state.
