Date: 2020-03-09

As the epidemic prevention and control measures are implemented, Heishui River fish habitat restoration project resumed on March 2. It is a key initiative of the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) to protect the ecosystem in the downstream Jinsha River as it operates cascade hydropower plants there.
The restoration initiative is a demonstration project approved by the State Council for the Yangtze River Economic Belt Ecosystem Protection Plan. It began in December 2018 and has completed a number of work including dam dismantling, pilot restoration project and special fish propagation and release in upstream Yangtze River.
Heishui River, a tributary of Jinsha River, originates from Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. CTG worked with TNC and Huadong Engineering Corp to launch the restoration project to protect the special fish in upstream Yangtze River by means of the riparian habitat.
