Xiangjiaba shiplift achieves new record, shipping 7,500 tons of goods a day
Date: 2020-03-16

Xiangjiaba shiplift, owned and built by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), transported 7,500 tons of goods with 11 containers and 13 ships on March 5, achieving a new record for daily capacity.
The shiplift is expected to greatly facilitate spring sowing and production recovery in China after its trial operation on February 13, as the demand for production recovery grows.
The project management team adopted a series of pandemic control and prevention measures in place, which will safeguard the shipping industry downstream Jinsha River.
The shiplift had transported a total of 164 containers from February 13 to March 8, with 175 ships carrying 67,143 tons of goods. It supports the local pandemic prevention and control initiatives as well as economic development.
The 6400MW Xiangjiaba hydropwoer project, owned by CTG, is the last step of a cascade development on the lower mainstream of Jinsha River. The project primarily supplies power to China’s central and eastern regions, while at the same time meeting power demand in the Sichuan and Yunnan provinces.
