CTG purchases first batch of agricultural goods to help combat poverty
Date: 2020-03-16

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) shipped 130 boxes of tangerines to its affiliated local units in Beijing, Chongqing, and other regions in March, the first batch of agricultural produce it bought from Wushan county, Chongqing, the poverty-stricken area to help them increase income.
Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, a large amount of seasonal agricultural produce is severely overstocked in four state-designated impoverished counties CTG assists, namely Wushan and Fengjie of Chongqing;Wan’an of Jiangxi; and Bairin Left Banner of Inner Mongolia.
CTG has implemented consumption-based targeted poverty relief initiatives in the four counties. CTG is instructing its subsidiaries to purchase goods and promote online sales to help market the overstocked agricultural produce. These initiatives help the counties increase their revenues during the pandemic and reduce the risks of them returning to poverty.
