Wudongde dams completes concrete placement at two sections

Wudongde hydropower plant, the world's third largest hydropower station under construction, completed concrete pouring at its No. 3 and No. 13 sections on December 30, 2019, making steady progress as it targets finishing placement in June.

As the first cascade of the four cascade hydropower plants on the downstream of Jinsha River, Wudongde dam consists of 15 sections. The No. 12 section was the first to have its placement completed on December 20.

The project has entered the construction phase of surface holes at the dam body with a total of 2.53 million cubic meters concrete poured, completing 88.5 percent of the overall concrete pouring target.

The overall placement work is on track and powered by superb temperature control and crack-proof technologies, no temperature cracks have been found to date.

Monitoring data show that the working condition of the dam is in excellent state. The dam, owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), is scheduled to finish all concrete pouring in June 2020 and the first batch of power units will be put into operation the following month.
