Date: 2020-06-01

Baihetan Hydropower Station, built and owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), has passed acceptance for the 4th runner on the station’s left bank on May 18, marking another significant construction milestone.
The runner has been checked and passed acceptance to ensure the safety of the project and the construction on schedule. According to CTG’s plan, the accepted runner will be installed in the No. 1 power unit, one of the first batches of power units to be commissioned at Baihetan.
The runner, a core component, is known as the heart of the hydraulic generator as it determines the stable operation of the entire power unit. Baihetan Hydropower Station will install eight 1-GW hydraulic generators on the left and right banks, making it the world’s largest hydraulic generator by installed capacity per unit.
The runner for the power units on the left bank, processed on-site by Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd., each boasts a maximum outer diameter of 8.65 m , a height of 3.96 m, and weighs 346.5 tons.
