Xiangjiaba shiplift completes its first trial operation at night
Date: 2020-06-22
Xiangjiaba shiplift, the world's largest shiplift in terms of lifting height, kicked off its first night trial operation from 28 to June 10, further testing the continuous operation capability of the shiplift equipment and preparing the project inspection and acceptance.
During the two-week night operation, the Xiangjiaba shiplift, built and owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), operated its lifting chamber 235 times, and carried over 239 ships and 87,666 tons of cargo, during which it recorded a maximum daily cargo load of nearly 10,000 tons.
The results indicate that the navigation-assistance signs and signals at the Xiangjiaba junction work soundly in guiding ships to navigate safely, meeting the design standards. This lays a solid foundation for the formal inspection and acceptance of the shiplift.
