CTG completes installation of rotors for Suapiti hydropower project in Guinea

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) announced that it has installed the rotors of power generation unit in the Suapiti hydropower project in Guinea on June 3.

The operation, which saw the rotors slowly hoisted from the assembling chamber and then precisely placed into the turbine pit, took over an hour.

The project has a total installed capacity of 450 MW. Each of its hydraulic generators has a rated power of 112 MW, and the hoisting weight of the rotor reaches 284 tons. During the assembly process, on-site personnel successfully completed the task despite challenges such as shortage of workers posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
