CTG begins construction of first high-altitude wind energy storage project

China Three Gorges Renewables (Group) Co., the alternative energy arm of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), officially kicked off its Liushaping Phase II wind farm energy storage project in Xitieshan, Qinghai Province, on June 20, the first high-altitude wind farm energy storage project for CTG.

It marks a crucial step for the company in exploring and researching wind farm energy storage system, as well as boosting facility utilization.

As the first supporting project of "wind power + energy storage" of CTG, it will build up valuable technology and standard experience in practice, and explore the technological economics of energy storage projects in multi-application scenarios. The company will also further conduct research on the key technologies of optimal configuration and operation control of energy storage system, and apply the results into those projects.
