CTG completes fishway project for Songxin hydropower station in Heishui River

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) announced that it has finished the construction of the fishway project for the Songxin hydropower station in the Heishui River, located in Liangshan Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province, marking the project is moving to the next phase.

Since the Heishui River ecological restoration project was kicked off in December 2018, CTG has completed a series of works, including the monitoring of ecological flow discharge, the dam-removal and habitat restoration for the Laomu River, habitat restoration for the Jianshui River in Songxin, Songxin fishway project, and the breeding and releasing programs of unique fish species.

While the restoration projects were underway, CTG started evaluting effects on improving the river habitat by tracking and monitoring activities. In order to further advance the construction of the Heishui River ecological testing ground, the company is building an open research platform for ecological restoration of domestic fish habitats.
