Jiangpinghe hydropower plant puts first power unit into operation

Jiangpinghe hydropower plant, owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), moved one step closer to completion on July 28, putting its first power unit into operation.
The plant, operated by CTG’s subsidiary Hubei Energy Group Co., Ltd., successfully put its No.1 power generation unit into operation after a 72-hour trial run. Once complete, the plant will have an installed capacity of 450,000 KW, an annual output of 960 million KWh, a normal impoundment level of 470 meters and a total storage capacity of 1.366 billion cubic meters.
Located in Enshi prefecture, Hubei province, Jiangpinghe hydropower plant is the largest of the five planned cascade power plants on the main section of Lou River. It is also one of Hubei’s Provincial Key Construction Projects.
