CTG-owned Changlongshan pumped storage power station hoists first runner
Date: 2020-09-03

Changlongshan pumped storage power station, built and owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), announced that it has successfully hoisted the No. 1 power unit's runner on August 31, marking the beginning of the peak installation phase for the power unit's key components.
Changlongshan, located in Zhejiang province, has the highest head for a pumped storage power plant in China.
The runner is a core component of the pumped storage power unit. Known as the ‘heart’ of the unit, the runner generates power or pumps water by turning clockwise and counterclockwise, creating a reversible conversion between hydro and mechanical energy.
Following the hoisting of the runner, a water diversion structure and a hoist for the stator and rotor for the No. 1 power unit will be installed. The project is on schedule, with general assembly of the power unit expected by the end of this year, laying solid groundwork for its commissioning in 2021.
