Date: 2020-09-22
The Nam Kong 1 Hydropower Station, CTG subsidiary China International Water & Electric Corporation’s (CWE) third build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) project in Laos, officially began impoundment in mid-September 2020, a major milestone for the station that was built to provide a stable base load electricity supply source for Laos.
With a total storage capacity of 651 million cubic meters and an installed capacity of 160 MW, the station has generated 633 million kilowatt-hours of electricity on average per annum since its commissioning, powering the socio-economic development of the South Asian nation.
During the construction of the station, CWE employed a number of key technologies to enhance the safety, quality, and efficiency of the station as well as the realization of important impoundment targets.
