CTG-built Souapiti hydropower plant in Guinea commissions 2nd power unit

Souapiti Hydropower Complex in Guinea, built by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), connected its No. 2 generator to grid on November 30 local time after completing a 72-hour trial operation.
Dubbed "the Three Gorges Project in West Africa", the Souapiti Hydropower Complex is the largest hydropower project under construction in Guinea or even West Africa. Jointly developed by China International Water & Electric Corp. (CWE) under China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) and the Guinean government as a public-private partnership (PPP) project, the Suapiti hydropower plant has a total installed capacity of 450 MW with an annual average output of 1.899 billion kWh.
The project began construction in April 2016 and entered the stage of impoundment and operation in 2020.
