Nam Kong 1 dam in Laos hoists the rotor for its first power unit

The Nam Kong 1 Hydropower Station, China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) subsidiary China International Water & Electric Corporation’s (CWE) third build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) project in Laos, hoisted the rotor into the pit of the first power unit on January 9, reaching a new milestone of electromechanical installation.
With a total storage capacity of 651 million cubic meters and an installed capacity of 160 MW, the hydropower station is designed to generate 633 million kilowatt-hours of electricity on average per annum once operational, ensuring a stable supply of electricity for Laos and powering its socio-economic development.
