CTG-owned Changlongshan pumped storage power station finishes stator hoisting for half of its power generators
Date: 2021-05-28

Changlongshan pumped storage power station, owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), announced that it finished hoisting the stator for its No. 3 power unit on May 17, signaling that it has completed rotor hoisting for three out of the six power units and putting its installation of power units on fast track.
The stator, the "stationary" part of the generator, is a crucial part of the pumped storage power unit and one of the core components of the generator. It consists of three major parts, namely the seat, core and winding. It works with the rotor to perform a reversible conversion of mechanical energy and power through the rotating magnetic field in the iron core. The gross hoisting weight of the stator is about 415 tons. It has a maximum outer diameter of about 8.2 meters and an overall hoisting height of about 10 meters.
The successful hoisting of the stator for the No. 3 power unit is a crucial step in the project. The first power unit of the power plant is scheduled to be put into operation at the end of June this year while all power units will be commissioned in 2022.
