China Three Gorges Renewables (CTG Renewables), the alternative energy arm of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), announced that it has secured a deal to supply 30 million kWh clean electricity to power the venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, the first green power deal CTG clinched with the Beijing Winter Olympics.

The deal was signed during a fair held by Beijing Electricity Exchange Center for the annual direct clean electricity trading that covers June to December 2021, the first time CTG participates in such an event after it became a sponsor of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

According to the deal, CTG Renewables’ Shijing Wind Farm, located in Shangyi county of Hebei province, will supply clean power to the venues of the event, accounting for 40% of the total clean electricity Beijing Winter Olympics purchased during the fair, which makes CTG the biggest winner in this fair in terms of share.

CTG was made the official power generation partner of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics on December 15, 2020, as the company is committed to providing clean energy to light up the Beijing games.

CTG Renewables is the CTG's most important producer and supplier of clean electricity with operation spanning over 30 provinces and regions across China.

The deal is an important part of CTG’s initiative to hit the goal of "reaching emission peak and carbon neutrality" as it is committed to supplying clean energy to Beijing Winter Olympics and offering strong support to preliminary preparation.
