Karot hydropower plant makes progress in reservoir bridge project
Date: 2021-09-06
The Azad Pattan bridge, one of the restoration and control projects in the reservoir area of Pakistani Karot hydropower plant, completed the convergence of its middle section on September 6, laying a solid foundation for lowering the sluice gate and impounding, its builder China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) announced.
Located in the upper reaches of the Karot dam area and straddling the Jhelum River on the border of Punjab and AJ&K, the Azad Pattan is the second bridge for the construction of Karot hydropower plant.
It not only ensures the transportation connecting the nearby towns and villages to the outside, but is also instrumental to lowering the sluice gate of the hydropower plant and impoundment. Despite the adverse impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the project has remained on track while assuring safety and engineering quality.
