CTG starts annual overhual for Baihetan hydropower station

The No.1 generator-transformer unit of Baihetan hydropower station, built and owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), started C-grade overhaul on November 26, becoming the world's first GW-level hydraulic generator to undergo annual overhaul.

Up to now, the station has commissioned 6 power units, having generated a total of 12 billion kWh of electricity. Among them, the No.1 unit, one of the first world-leading GW-level power unit to be commissioned, saw its first regular C-grade overhaul after 152 days of sound operation. The 18-day overhaul mainly includes standard C-grade items for the power unit and its additional equipment as well as non-standard items like online monitoring system program check and inspection on the flow-passing surface of runners.

The station will take this overhaul as an opportunity to conduct a comprehensive and meticulous inspection and maintenance of the unit, and to further explore the operation of the GW-level unit. By doing this, it can enhance its innovation capability in hydropower equipment, ensure the long-term safe and stable operation of its power units, and make new and greater contributions to the power supply during the winter and spring seasons.
