Xiangjiaba shiplift’s cargo throughput sets new record

Xiangjiaba shiplift had handled 1,002 ships and 445,000 tons of cargo in the first quarter ending March 31, according to its operator China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), off to a good start in first quarter as throughput increased 18.4% , or 69,000 tons, from a year earlier.

Xiangjiaba hydropower station is located in the Jinsha River section at the borders of Yibin, Sichuan and Shuifu, Yunnan. The construction of the station has greatly improved the navigation conditions in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River. Xiangjiaba shiplift is a gear and rack climbing balance-weight vertical shiplift, with a maximum lifting height of 114.2 meters. The industry-leading shiplift has a maximum daily cargo throughput of 10,640 tons and a fastest passing time of 35 minutes, making it one of the best in the industry in terms of navigation efficiency.
