A consortium led by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), has won the bid of Shanghai’s first offshore wind farm with low feed-in tariffs, the city’s Municipal Development and Reform Commission announced on April 2 .

The consortium, which includes Shanghai Environmental Protection Energy Co., Ltd. and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., has succeeded in the competitive allocation of Jinshan offshore wind farm Phase I, the commission said, adding that the project is expected to play a significant role in improving the power structure of the city and driving the development of renewable energy in China.

Jinshan offshore wind farm Phase I, with its center 19.5 km away from the coast and a planned installed capacity of 300 MW, covers an area of 42.64 square kilometers. The wind farm is China's first competitive allocation offshore wind farm with the feed-in tariffs below the benchmark price of coal-fired power since the release of Guidelines for the Competitive Allocation of Wind Power Projects (Trial) by National Energy Administration. The project will further increase the installed capacity of clean energy in Shanghai to boost its power security.
