Portuguese Ambassador to China, Jose Augusto Duarte, appreciates CTG’s efforts in bilateral ties

On August 12, Zhang Xiangqun, Executive Vice President of China Three Gorges International Corporation (CTGI), entrusted by Mr. Lei Mingshan, Board Chairman of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), paid a visit to the Portuguese Ambassador to China José Augusto Duarte in Beijing.

Zhang expressed his great gratitude to the long-standing support offered by Ambassador Duarte as well as the Embassy of Portugal to CTG in the past years. He recalled Ambassador Duarte’s visit to Three Gorges Project and several other moments between the Ambassador and CTG. Zhang also extended CTG’s best wishes to Ambassador Duarte.

Ambassador Duarte highly appreciated CTG’s investment in EDP-Energias de Portugal, S.A. (“EDP”) since 2011 as well as the prompt donation with tons of medical equipment to Portuguese government and people to combat against COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which was the first assistance provided by Chinese enterprise. He also appreciated CTG’s sponsorship to various educational and cultural exchange programmes, which have paved a solid foundation for the bilateral relationship.

Zhang said CTG was deeply encouraged by these affirmations of Ambassador Duarte and he expressed CTG’s willingness to continue to support China-Portuguese educational and cultural exchanges, promote the development of the Portuguese energy sector together with EDP, and strive to make greater contributions to the local people's livelihood and economic development.
