Another pumped storage power station obtained permits for construction in NW China

The Zhangye Daopanshan pumped storage power station, located in northwest China’s Gansu province, obtained permits for construction this October, making it one of the first-batch pumped storage projects in the area.

With 4 units of 350 MW hydraulic generators, the power station has an annual generation of about 1.637 billion kWh and will be fully operational in 2029.

Upon completion, the station will be responsible for peak load regulation, valley filling, frequency regulation, phase modulation, power storage, and emergency use for the local grid and will further boost local new energy exportation, benefiting local development.
