Date: 2023-03-01

The No.9 unit, also the last unit of the Baihetan Hydropower project passed the safety check on February 27. So far, all of the 16 world’s largest-capacity units of the mega project have met national and industrial standards.
This 16 GW project, the latest-built power station along the world’s largest clean energy corridor, can generate over 62.443 billion kWh of clean electricity annually. This amount of clean energy is equivalent to reducing 51.6 million tonnes of CO2 emissions or planting 206,654 hectares of broad-leaved trees.
The project, located downstream of the Jinsha River on the border of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in southwest China, transmits electricity from the resource-rich west to major energy consumers in China and gives a big boost to social and economic development!
