In Q1 2023, the world’s largest clean energy corridor, consisting of six CTG’s mega HPPs along the Yangtze River, has generated around 55.60 billion kWh of electricity, up 18.4% year-on-year, saving more than 16 million tonnes of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 46 million tonnes.
The corridor has also replenished 19 billion cubic meters of water, which is 1,330 times more than the volume of the #WestLake in Hangzhou, China, to the water-scarce area in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The replenishment also helps effectively increase the depth of the navigation channel.
CTG has carried out eco-scheduling experiments in the cascade reservoirs to provide a sound hydrological and hydraulic environment for local fish species and safeguard biodiversity.
