Wudongde hydropower project allowed to raise water level to normal impoundment level of 975 meters

The Wudongde hydropower project has been allowed to raise its reservoir water level to its normal impoundment level of 975 meters after passing an expert evaluation. The evaluation team, after conducting meticulous site inspections and deliberations, confirmed that the project fulfilled all requisite criteria for the adjustment.

Located on the Jinsha River, the Wudongde hydropower project can generate 38.91 billion kWh of clean energy annually with its 12 hydraulic generators, easing power shortages in China's Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The project was recognized as a Highly Commended Project by @FIDIC in 2022, considering its significant impacts on global social, economic, and environmental well-being.
