World's largest clean energy corridor supplies China with electricity
Date: 2024-08-03
During scorching summer days, China faces rising electricity demand with multiple regions issuing high-temperature alerts. Taking responsibility for ensuring power supply during this period, CTG has ramped up electric energy supply from the world's largest clean energy corridor.
On July 12, all 110 generating units of the corridor operated at full capacity for the first time this year. By July 23, the number of days with a daily power generation exceeding 1 billion kWh at CTG’s cascade hydropower stations had reached 35 days, with the highest single-day power generation reaching 1.5 billion kWh.
Spanning 1,800 kilometers along the main stream of the Yangtze River, the world's largest clean energy corridor is composed of CTG’s six cascade hydropower stations: Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, the Three Gorges, and Gezhouba.
With a total installed capacity of about 71.7 GW, it generates enough clean energy annually to meet the annual electricity needs of over 300 million people in China.
