CSAIL’s 720MW Karot hydropower plant completes annual capacity test

The 720MW Karot Hydropower Plant operated by China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Ltd. (CSAIL) successfully completed its Annual Capacity Test recently, confirming its ability to meet and exceed operational demands while ensuring consistent and reliable power generation performance.

The test was important for the plant as it confirmed the plant's readiness to consistently deliver peak performance and highlighted its ability to maintain high output under varying conditions.

Since its entry into operation in June 2022, the Karot Hydropower Project has generated 6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, saving about 2.6 million tonnes of standard coal and reducing carbon emissions by about 6.56 million tonnes.

It has met the electricity needs of more than 5 million people.
