Date: 2024-09-13

As of September 3, the Three Gorges ship locks have conducted over 6,500 operations this year, facilitating the passage of 24,000 ships and a cargo volume exceeding 100 million tonnes. The figure means that the highly efficient ship locks at the Three Gorges Dam have handled over 100 million tonnes of cargos annually for the 11th consecutive year.
The Three Gorges ship locks are a key navigation facility on the Yangtze River. For years, CTG has made continuous efforts to optimize operational technology, upgrade equipment, and innovate maintenance techniques.
These efforts have effectively extended the average annual operating days of the ship locks, reduced vessel passage time, and increased throughput capacity, ensuring smooth operation of the Yangtze River's waterway and supporting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
