China's first ever all-electric cleanup and transfer vessel for inland rivers launched
Date: 2025-01-07
Recently, China's first all-electric cleanup and transfer vessel for inland rivers officially hit the water in Zigui county, Yichang city, central China's Hubei Province.
This innovative vessel is expected to save 253.4 tonnes of diesel annually, reducing carbon emissions by 842.4 tonnes.
Over its 20-year operational lifespan, the vessel is expected to save approximately 20 million yuan ($2.76 million), underscoring its environmental and economic benefits.
Measuring 82 meters in length with a range of 150 kilometers, the vessel is designed to clean, collect, and transfer floating debris from rivers. Additionally, during non-flood seasons, when cleanup activities are less frequent, it can be used as a transport vessel for bulk cargo along the Yangtze River.
