Ecological operation test for facilitating fish spawning officially begins at cascade hydropower stations on lower reaches of Jinsha River

Recently, the first section of stop logs was successfully installed in the slot of the Unit 10 intake on the right bank of the Wudongde Hydropower Station on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan provinces in southwest China.

This marked the official commencement of the 2025 ecological operation test for layered water withdrawal at the cascade hydropower stations on the lower reaches of the Jinsha River.

This test aims to draw water from the upper and middle layers of the reservoirs to increase the outflow temperature, supporting fish spawning in the river.

As planned, similar operations will soon be carried out at the Baihetan and Xiluodu hydropower stations.

Since 2017, 14 such tests have been conducted at the cascade hydropower stations on the lower reaches of the Jinsha River.
