Lower reservoir of Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station built by CTG passes acceptance inspection for impoundment

Date: 2025-03-10

The lower reservoir project of the Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped Storage Power Station, built by CTG, has successfully passed its acceptance inspection for impoundment, marking another milestone in the project's construction and paving the way for the first generating unit to commence operations in December.

The power station features a rated hydraulic head of 724 meters and is equipped with four generating units, each with a capacity of 425 MW (425,000 kW), totaling an installed capacity of 1,700 MW (1.7 million kW).

Pumped-storage power stations serve as "power banks" and "grid regulators" for electricity networks. Using reversible pump-turbine units installed in underground facilities, they pump water to store energy during low-demand periods and release water to generate electricity during peak demand.
