CTG transplants over 4,000 rare plants back into the wild in Three Gorges Reservoir area
Date: 2025-03-31

CTG recently transplanted over 4,000 self-cultivated rare plants into the wild in the water-level fluctuation zone of the Tongzhuang River within the Three Gorges Reservoir area.
The reintroduced species include rare plants such as Myricaria laxiflora, Plantago fengdouensis, and Salix variegata.
Notably, some of the selected Plantago fengdouensis specimens had undergone space breeding, demonstrating higher survival rates and superior growth performance compared to regular strains.
To date, CTG has conserved 2,030 species of rare plants endemic to the Yangtze River, safeguarding more than 30,000 individual specimens. Through sustained research efforts, CTGers have overcome propagation challenges for nearly 100 rare species and cultivated over 300,000 rare plant saplings.
