CTG publishes Comment in Nature

Date: 2025-05-06

Recently, a research team formed by CTG in collaboration with several universities published a Comment titled “How a vast digital twin of the Yangtze River could prevent flooding in China” in the international journal Nature.

The article offers a fresh perspective on advancing smart water conservancy along the Yangtze River. It highlights that building an intelligent and resilient watershed monitoring system could enhance flood preparedness and response capabilities.

In April 2023, construction began on a comprehensive water monitoring system covering the entire Yangtze River basin. As described in the paper, the system is based on a visualized 3D simulation platform that integrates data on weather, hydrology, ecology, sediment, topography, and energy demand.

It enables real-time modeling to predict flood pathways, evaluate the performance of hydraulic infrastructure, guide dispatch operations, support navigation, and evaluate ecological impacts.
