CTG breeds endangered fish species at scale, boosts Yangtze conservation

CTG's research team has recently made a major breakthrough in the conservation of Xenophysogobio nudicorpa, a fish species endemic to China, by achieving large-scale repeated breeding of adult broodstock, a significant step toward restoring the species in the wild.
This round of breeding effort was conducted in stages, covering 284 broodfish in total, with a repeat breeding success rate of 70 percent. More than 50,000 juveniles have been hatched so far.
To date, CTG has contributed to the conservation of over 120 rare and endemic fish species in the Yangtze River. Through artificial propagation and release programs, CTG has returned more than 27.2 million juvenile fish to the river, as part of its continued efforts to guard the living beauty of
