Three Gorges Reservoir launches 2025 ecological regulation trial

Recently, the Three Gorges Reservoir launched the 2025 ecological regulation trial to support the natural reproduction of fish species that lay drifting eggs.

By rationally adjusting reservoir outflows to generate an artificial flood peak, the trial aims to create suitable hydrological and hydraulic conditions for fish spawning, helping these species reproduce successfully.

From 2011 to 2024, the Three Gorges Reservoir carried out 22 ecological regulation trials over 14 consecutive years, gradually supporting a healthier and more balanced environment in the Yangtze River basin.
