Rare bird species spotted at wetland near Three Gorges Dam
Date: 2025-06-24
Infrared cameras have captured rare footage of two bird species under national second-class protection in China—the Eurasian goshawk and the pheasant-tailed jacana—during a recent biodiversity monitoring effort at the Xiyuan Park of the Three Gorges Dam area.
Once a disposal site for construction waste site, the Xiyuan Park has undergone more than a decade of ecological restoration led by CTG and is now a thriving ecological park, home to over 80 species of wild animals.
The new recordings not only expand the record of local wildlife species but also offer valuable data for ongoing conservation and scientific research.
