Three Gorges Reservoir begins 2025 impoundment process

Date: 2025-09-15

The Three Gorges Reservoir in central China's Hubei Province recently started its 2025 impoundment, while upstream controlled reservoirs along the Yangtze River are being filled in an orderly manner.

As of 8 a.m. on September 10, the combined storage of these upstream reservoirs reached 48.5 billion cubic meters, 10.9 billion more than the five-year average.

Through well-planned scheduling and dynamic monitoring, these reservoirs are expected to provide strong support for downstream water supply, irrigation, navigation, and power generation.
